By Antonio MalaraThis post was born for a series of circumstances and in reality I never planned it. As I said in Background Art, after buying large-format drawing sheets, I used them as backgrounds and began to photograph many objects both to preserve their originality as in the case of shoes, and to create particular effects with an abstract shape . When I bought these shoes I took some shots mainly because I was struck by the totally patent leather sole. But the originality of this shoe that combines velvet with patent leather was also a reason for reflection after seeing the invitation email for sales I received from Tod's. I bought these loafers on Yoox and it’s a model from previous seasons, however looking at the offer on the Tod's website, I was really disappointed. The loafer models called “gommino” were few, always traditional and except for a model with a beautiful shade of brown, I have not seen particular or innovative designs. Moreover, only the "city" loafers were discounted, while the normal ones were all at full price which in the meantime has increased bringing the minimum price for the purchase a “gommino” to the price of 490 € (except for a model only costing 410 €. ). This post therefore serves as a reflection; why this lack of models? Is it due to a market issue or is it a lack of creativity? I remember that a long time ago I had a vision for original shoes models, unfortunately I don't know how to draw and this has always given limits to my creativity. However, that model is still in my head and given the times, who knows that one day I won't start drawing until I can make sketches of that model I have in mind. Pictures: Antonio Malara
