By Antonio MalaraIn my place there is a bad habit of using the term "leather" only when we refer to accessories such as jackets or shoes that are actually made of calfskin. On the other hand, when an accessory is made of suede, we simply label it as "suede". To introduce this new pair of shoes, I wanted to keep this generic term “leather” even though the shoes I show today are in calfskin. In fact, in the post I published in August 2020, I presented suede leather shoes only as "Tod's blue loafers" because unconsciously for me, that accessory was not leather. In that post I spoke extensively and in depth about general moccasins, the Tod's model in particular and the difference between calfskin and suede. For example, I specified that I don't like the effect of black suede while, as in this case, I literally love the calfskin in black. Despite having dozens of shoes of different colors, especially in the summer the one I use the most is black (I make a real statistic in late summer). It seems strange but finding a pair of loafers of this type is not easy so that a few years ago I opted for a black patent leather model. Unfortunately, during the discount period, the aforementioned model disappeared from the Tod's website. A few weeks ago, quite extemporaneously, I reasoned that the models no longer present on the site must end up somewhere else. I don't know why I started looking on Yoox, a well-known website that sells fashion design items but at low prices. To my surprise, I found dozens of Tod's loafers models, some of which coincidentally no longer appear on the Tod's official website. On Yoox there were several models in calfskin, with clamp with lanyard or completely smooth without applications. In other words, I was spoiled for choice, I could buy my favorite shoe in both color and material. Keeping in mind that a full-price model can cost up to 480 €, on Yoox the starting cost was much lower. There the most expensive model costed around € 220 and in the end I opted for the model with the strap, the price was € 179 but with an additional discount I paid 139 shipping costs included! An incredible deal and an oversight on my part of never having considered Yoox when buying shoes. I’m happy with this new discovery and also with the shoes themselves, the shoe is very comfortable and makes a nice effect on the foot, a model that I will certainly use a lot next summer.
