I saw for the first time the squared flat top sunglasses on Victoria Beckham website. The sunglasses model was in celluloid, totally black, big but with good proportions between the flat top and the squared frames on the bottom. I immediately liked that model, probably a little “seventies” but with something modern at the same time. The high price (around 400 euro) and fact that they were for woman stopped me to buy them. As usual in the fashion industry today, that kind of model has spread all around on every fashion brand website. Of course every brand personalized the model but it was more or less the same. Actually I was looking for a new black model and after some researchers I was ready to buy a Dsquared2 pair which was not with flat top but on pictures had a similar effect. I don’t know why but one day I started to look on the Carrera eyewear website and boom! There were two models with flat top, one was priced at 149€ and another one at 99€. The expensive model was more trendy, also available with yellow lenses but the cheaper one named 5039/S was simply perfect!

Carrera has a long history in the eyewear business and personally I knew the brand in the eighties when my father bought for himself three pair of Carrera with its singular design. The sunglasses were a mask look like, with curved edges and the details which identified the brand, the most popular color was the dark red. That model was so popular at that time, a must have.
I think it was around 2009 when the same model has become popular again, it was possible to buy that kind of Carrera but this time with more colors options. Of course I bought two pairs, a black version with white details and a white one with blue details, I used them a lot for a couple of years until they became obsolete again.

As I said, Carrera is not an expensive brand and all the sunglasses I had were good quality especially the most important things; the lenses. Well I’m very happy to have something new again by this brand, I found the sunglasses I wanted with a interesting price, a good looking on my face and I’m sure that the product will satisfy my needs.
