The FD look
By Antonio Malara
There’s one outfit that I always loved but I never had the courage to wear. I’m talking about the look I call “the fashion designer outfit”. To let you understand, I mean the slim t-shirt with the classic pants and formal loafers. This is a look that normally wears also Giorgio Armani, but I found out this outfit thanks to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Of course this is not the first D&G style, they used to dress so unconventional at the beginning of their career. They started to use this look lately (even if I can’t say since when, I’m talking about years) I remember that when I saw them for the first time, they were so cool when they use to go on the catwalk in that outfit, it was a mix between formal and casual but it wasn’t for everyone. At that time no one use to wear that outfit, it was unusual, people use to pair a shirt with the pants and not a t-shirt that normally was paired with jeans. The first person to wear this in “real life” were gay guys who most of time are the more chic and progressive about fashion.
I bought this cheap black pants on Asos because it’s an item that usually I don’t wore but lately I like. When I’m not sure if I feel comfortable with some kind of clothes, I normally buy I the cheap version first. This one were just a little bit longer but perfect on waist and legs. The white top is by Dsquared2, I love this kind of t-shirt, this one fits perfectly and I hate myself because I didn’t buy even the black one that now is not on sale anymore. I paired this with my black Versace Jeans Couture belt and a new pair of Faruk Sagin loafers. I bought this shoes with an extra sale but actually I wanted the blu version which were fabulous in my opinion.
I did this shooting around October 2017 and at that time these were my second pair of shoes of this brand and I confirm the good quality and comfortably. Unfortunately every time they sale new shoes, my size goes sold out in a couple of weeks, so I have to decide fast (and I don’t like it) which model to buy.
The city where I live extends in heights, so there are many stairs between some streets. Unfortunately almost all these stairs are without maintenance. I choose one of these for the shooting even if my friends didn’t agree with me. The reason was right the lack of maintenance (he’s a perfectionist). In my city it’s full of place that could be beautiful if only had the basic maintenance. The stairs reminds me to Paris, lots of fashion commercials were shooting in this kind of place. At the end my pics are nice but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, that’s because I used a telephoto lens.
In conclusion I won another bet. I wasn’t sure about the outfit but then I like how I look in the pics. To be honest I had try a similar look in the summer but instead of pants I had jeans and a casual loafers. Even if I had doubts about the combination (formal pants and casual t-shirt), I was positive about how the single pieces would fits on myself. So another outfit is ready and finally I can wear this in public and not just for the post.
