When I was a kid in my neighborhood there were some older people with tattoos. At the beginning I didn't know why they liked to paint their body, then when I grow up a little I found out the reason. Basically, at that time, tattoos belonged to people who were in jail. They use to make a tattoo related with the crime they had committed. In other word a person with a tattoo was a tough man, but actually the crimes were all ridiculous, most of time theft of vegetables or animals inside private property. You can understand that for me, who had a tattoo, was a loser.
Today the tattoo has many different meanings, some people do it for trend, for someone is an art, other make it just because they feel comfortable with this modern lifestyle. In any case the tattoo even today is connected with a rebel personality. Personally I don't want nothing on my body except the tan! I prefer to remove thing like nevus and not to add. But I admit that some people has really masterpiece tattooed on their body and I like how they look like with tattoo.
A couple of years ago Dsquared2 come out with the tattoo t-shirt, a special super slim t-shirt printed like if you had your body tattooed. I thought it would be nice to buy one but I realized I never wore because you should put another t-shirt on to give the sense. Last year they put on sale the tattoo sleeve, (essentially is the same concept of the t-shirt but this time you only wear the sleeves with tattoo) and I think that this idea was perfect for my intention. When I found the sleeves on sale I bought them. In this way I could feel the sensation to have my arms full of tattoos.
So I created the rebel outfit, I put together a basic white fit t-shirt, the sleeves, a clear denim jeans and my denim espadrillas also by Dsquared2. Me and my sister decided to use the old part of the port for the shooting. We thought it was the perfect location for a rebel look, in fact here we found lot of dismissed things, even a big boat. I had fun to play the rebel and this outfit isn't just for fun, I planned to wear it for going out but I didn't because I wanted to post it for first on the blog.
I have to say that the sleeves are comfortable, considered it was a typical summer day, I didn't fell hot wearing them. Another consideration that I want to do is that in my mind the outfit was more rebel than it was in reality but I liked the final result in the pictures. The only thing I have to do now is having a night out with this outfit and looking at people reaction, if they misunderstood the sleeves for real tattoos.
P.S. while I was shooting I received a phone call that announced that one of my close aunt passed away. It was sad and unexpected. My aunt was part of my childhood so lots of memories went through my mind in one second. I want to dedicate this post to her. Good bye aunt Gina.
