By Antonio MalaraIt’s been almost three years since I posted “The Super Slim Style” where I explained why I like the skinny style, now I’m posting again the same kind of outfit but for a different reason. Beside the fitting this is so far my favorite look, I always liked it and it’s the best way to seem classic and modern at the same time. This is also the look I wear in spring and autumn when I go out at night. Most of time I prefer to use blazer, shirt and skinny jeans when I go to a club but it also happened that I used just for a walk. I remember I wore this look in Venice years ago when I went I to watch “La Traviata” at the “La Fenice” theatre. Well I was with my sister and while we were walking, a tourist woman told us “you both look gorgeous”. To be honest it’s not my goal to receive those kid of compliments, I just like the way I look but it’s nice when people appreciates you. With that being said what I want to say with this post is the “tragic” destiny of this kind of outfit which I’m not wearing anymore. Yes, years after years I used this combination less and less. The reason is that in the last years, nightlife quality in my city got worse for multiple reasons. Economics troubles, lack of creativity from promoters, friends who can’t handle longer nights and a few drinks are some of them. In the last years I found myself going out for clubbing only a couple of time a week in the summer season. Spring and autumn night-outs are increasingly rare and informal so I couldn’t use my favorite style. This is also a sign the times are changing, even if I continue to look good I realize that times goes by for me and my friends and the extreme lifestyle becomes hard to handle. I had a nightlife story that has lasted for over twenty years, and what a story! Thousands of party, similar numbers about alcohol drunk, dozens of girls met, dances, funny videos and pictures but it’s not all. There’s also the way I used to get inside the clubs, most of time skipping the lines, getting free drinks and being the last ones to left the place sometimes totally upside down. Of course I didn’t have those advantages in all the party, I also had to stay in line or pay but I did some years really “on top”. A couple of years ago I talked about this with a friend, he introduced the topic and he was nostalgic, he said: “we made the history of nightlife”! He was right and I never thought we could ever face a decline during those years. Those times are not totally gone but today is not the same, me and my friends we don’t have the same motivation anymore but we still are present during the summer nights. So “The Super Slim Style” has been affected by this, I need to force myself and try the right time to wear this outfit more often. Doing this I’m conscious that I can’t go back in time again and to be honest I feel like the character of one of my favorite movie. As Henry Hill said in the end of “Goodfellas” when he lost all his “privileges” of his extreme lifestyle. He said: “I’m an average nobody” Pictures: Maria Chiara Malara
