By Antonio MalaraLast summer while I was walking with a dear friend of mine on the waterfront, we started talking about action movies from the 80s, a genre we actually grew up with and which were the basis of our teenage imagery. When the topic fell on Sylvester Stallone, my friend started quoting "Cobra" and at that moment I realized that I had never watched that movie. I remembered the poster, the fact that there was also a young and attractive Brigitte Nielsen as the protagonist but in fact a totally new movie for me. Obviously I absolutely had to watch it but only in the fall I bought not only the single movie but an entire box set in blu ray dedicated to Stallone whose cover featured him in the role of "Cobra". In the film Stallone plays a brusque, fearless police lieutenant who acts with absolute calm even in critical moments. This action-packed movie with a fairly compelling storyline is also considered very violent due to the people Stallone as Cobra kills throughout the movie. I liked the film a lot but what struck me the most was the entry of Stallone, right in the opening scene. His colleagues had surrounded a supermarket where a deranged man was holding people hostage, at which point Marion Cobretti (nicknamed Cobra) arrives in a scene made up of four beautiful cuts. The shot of the car arriving at full speed that closes by zooming in on the license plate with the inscription "Awsom50", then detaching on the boots in the act of getting out of the car, close-up on Cobra with a match in the mouth and black aviator sunglasses, then wide shot to frame him full-length as he walks to join his colleagues. I will have reviewed the scene at least six times before continuing to watch the movie because it was so cool and obviously, as a person who loves fashion, I focused on the outfit. This was simple enough but made unique by the scene and the character. A pair of black boots, light jeans, a black T-shirt with buttons on the V-neck (which we call “Serafino” in Italy), a black denim jacket and aviator sunglasses. Obviously, after I watched the scene, I decided that I would take pictures with the Cobra outfit. Although I already had almost all the clothing items like those worn by Cobra in that scene, I couldn't take the photos at that time because it was already winter and I postponed the project for this spring. For my version of Cobra I used boots already worn in a previous post, a pair of never worn Dsquared2 jeans that I had bought some time before, same thing for the jacket I had already had since last spring. The only items I bought for the outfit were the t-shirt, found for about € 15 on a clothing website, and the gloves bought on Amazon. Although Cobra wears regular gloves in the movie, I bought the fingerless ones because they have been on my wishlist for a long time and I intend to use them beyond the post. Same goes for the Gucci sunglasses, I only bought them last month and reviewed them in this post, not only with the intention of using them for these photos but because I was looking for an aviator model of this type. My last "Fashion" post was "King of Cool" published in October and it has always been a tribute of a cinematic nature. I must say that this thing amuses me a lot and even in the case of Cobra I have come up with poses that are too recited. I mean that more than celebratory they are interpreted, in those moments I immersed myself in the character without meaning to. I promised myself to do only 3-4 outfit posts a year but probably with this story of the "Tribute" I will continue but with the intention of also giving a meaningful nature as well as purely aesthetic. Obviously I already have the next character in mind and this time I already have all the clothing items ready. I just have to wait for the air to warm up a bit, find an original location and publish a new "Tribute" that will also have a psychological as well as a visual meaning. Pictures: Maria Chiara Malara
