This is the third model of the Speed Champions F1 series that I've purchased and the third Lego Mercedes. I've already built the Technic Pullback and I own the large W14 Technic version, which I'll build soon. The F1 models, in a certain sense, have brought me back to this sport, which I had completely abandoned, so I give credit to whoever created this series of models. Although a little fragile once built, they are still very beautiful, both in terms of detail and proportions. After building the Red Bull and the McLaren L38, I chose the Mercedes W15 because, in the end, seeing the models racing, I consider it the most beautiful. As for this year's liveries, after the Mercedes, the most pleasing are the Racing Bull, the Red Bull, and then the McLaren, especially the version from the last races with the white part on the engine. Another nice one is the Aston Martin, while the Ferrari is a disappointment due to the HP logo with a white background, which is horrible. I'm obviously referring to this year's models, while the Lego reproductions are from last season, so after this model I don't think I'll buy any more until I see new models. The Mercedes W15 reproduced here is intriguing, and I'm eager to see how it looks in this small reproduction. It will then be up to my photography skills to best capture the car's potential beauty. As I've explained in other posts, more than the assembly technique, which is now too simple, I enjoy photographing these cars, elevating them from a visual perspective to larger-scale models using a macro lens. For now, this is what I enjoy the most, but I hope to see future models that are larger and more complex to assemble. While assembling this model, I had the impression that the techniques were different from those of the other two models I've assembled previously. I don't think this is related to the car's design but rather to a choice made by Lego, which often has identical parts assembled differently in the same set, even if they're repeated twice or more. This Mercedes seems more stable at the front, specifically at the nose cone, which is better secured than the McLaren and Red Bull. As far as I'm concerned, this W15 is the most beautiful Speed Champions F1 model, due to its black color where green and other elements fit perfectly into the livery. The stars on the engine covers are the most personal part because they're reproduced not in a linear fashion but with a dynamic pattern. Seeing that Lego offers models of these cars from previous years, I'm also considering purchasing the Ferrari, which in last year's version was definitely nicer than this year's. If it were offered in the future, I certainly wouldn't buy it. A.M.
