Finally I put myself in the bizarre world of patches. I have to say that when I saw the first pieces of clothes with patches back on fashion, I didn’t like it. Patches remind me to Tom Cruise and Top Gun. Even if the movies and the look that wore Cruise at that time was so popular, I remember that even in the eighties that kind of style was too unconventional for me. Of course I was about ten years old, too little to have my personal style but anyway I didn’t like it. I’m mostly a formal person so I thought it wasn’t for me and never wore something like that. But time goes by and as a person who spend lot of time on fashion websites, patches were everywhere and I became familiar with the idea. All started with this bomber I saw on Asos. It was with patches and what kind! In fact all over the bomber were rockets, planets and other symbols connected to space exploration. Even if I never wrote here about it, I’m a fan of space things. I follow NASA missions, astronauts on space station, I really like the topic because give me the opportunity to discover something that is beyond the earth. Of course I have my own opinion about the mystery of space and I don’t believe in everything they say (maybe I’ll talk in another time about this). So these details canceled my doubts, I bought the jacket and I decided to create an outfit for it. It was spring and at the beginning I wanted to make the post before summer but I couldn’t because summer “surprised me” before to do it. I rescheduled the post for the autumn (and I end up posting it in the winter).
I wanted something super casual but cool, so I thought about a clear skinny jeans, with grey t-shirt and white sneakers. Step by step I noticed that I was creating the cheapest outfit ever, so I pushed this to the limit and I bought a new jeans by Zara (the one I thought as the first choice was an expensive Dondup). The outfit was clear in my mind, and what I described was perfect paired with the dark green patches bomber. All this outfit cost is around 130€ while only the Dondup jeans I was using is priced at 220€. The t-shirt is by Dsquared2 while the sneakers are Polo Ralph Lauren (a 29€ deal!). I decided to use my aviator Ray-Ban sunglasses (could it be an unconscious Top Gun tribute?) even if normally I don’t cover my eyes (if you read this post you’ll know why) but posing under the sun, make me strange expressions on the face (and also pain in the eyes) so I think that from now on I’ll change my habit.
I really liked the result with the colors combination, it’s not easy when you try to pair four different tones like in this outfit. I also liked the location with the sea in background. It was improvised because I turned to this place while I was going to the other location that I had in my mind. I had nice time shooting with my sister in a perfect sunny warm day (it was autumn).
So sometimes even with a little improvisation you can realize nice content.
